Education
Education is at the heart of lasting ocean protection.
At ODTIF, we believe that knowledge alone is not enough — people must feel connected
to the ocean to truly care for it. Through our education programs, we promote Ocean Literacy
by making complex scientific concepts accessible, engaging, and emotionally resonant.
We combine scientific knowledge with artistic storytelling, immersive experiences, workshops, and creative learning tools to inspire children, students, educators, and the general public.
Our goal is to nurture a new generation of ocean stewards who understand, appreciate,
and actively protect our blue planet.
By integrating education with science, technology, and art, ODTIF aims to create deep, lasting change in how society perceives and interacts with the ocean.
Dongguk University WISE Campus RISE Project Team

A key partner in our educational efforts is the Dongguk University WISE Campus RISE Project Team (포용사회혁신교육사업단). In 2026, the team launched the art-environment fusion program “Minhwa to Protect, Gyeongju Sea Rescue Team” (민화로 지킨다, 경주바다구조대), designed specifically for children from multicultural families. The program integrates Gyeongju’s cultural heritage, East Sea marine ecology education, and traditional Korean Minhwa (folk painting). Participants learn about the value of marine ecosystem conservation while creating artworks that combine marine creatures (such as dolphins and sea turtles) with symbolic elements from Minhwa. The theme, “Our Painted Sea, Our Future to Protect”, encourages children to develop cultural pride, a sense of belonging, and a personal commitment to protecting the ocean. This initiative exemplifies ODTIF’s approach to inclusive education — making ocean literacy accessible to diverse communities through the powerful combination of art and environmental awareness.
